Why we do it
Fire doors play a crucial role in slowing the spread of fire and smoke, protecting life, safeguarding property, and supporting safe evacuation. They form an essential part of any building’s passive fire protection strategy.
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 places a legal duty on responsible persons to ensure that fire doors are correctly installed, regularly inspected, and maintained. Regular fire door inspections are necessary to demonstrate compliance and to ensure doors remain fully functional and fit for purpose.
How we do it
Our surveys are carried out by competent assessors trained in fire door inspection. Each door is checked against a comprehensive checklist covering:
- Door leaf and frame condition
- Gaps and clearances
- Intumescent and smoke seals
- Hinges, closers, and ironmongery
- Signage and operation
- Compliance with relevant standards (e.g. BS 8214, BS 9999)
We also check for suitability of materials, installation quality, and any damage or alterations that may compromise performance.
